The Preliminary Inquiry (PI) for Michael Anthony Persaud who is accused of murdering his estranged wife back in December, yesterday got underway before Magistrate Judy Latchman.Persaud was discovered lying next to the nude corpse of 20-year-old Madhuri Padumdeo on their bed in their Sophia home.The 21year-old, North Sophia resident was arrested on December 22 and the corpse of his estranged wife, which he was lying next to at the time, had a length of rope tied around her neck.Persaud is being represented by Senior Counsel, Bernard De Santos, while the matter is being prosecuted by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Robert Tyndall.First to take the stand on behalf of the Prosecution was Police Sergeant Tricia Beckles.She related her evidence-in-chief which was led by ASP Tyndall.The policewoman revealed what had allegedly transpired on the day of the event when she arrested the defendant.She also revealed what happened when she had put the murder allegation to Persaud.The Prosecution witness also described the scene of the crime when she reportedly entered the house and found the dead woman’s body.The Police Sergeant was subsequently cross-examined by De Santos (SC).She was the only witness for the day’s hearing and her testimony brought an end to the day’s proceedings.According to the police,NFL Jerseys China, Padumdeo’s body was found at about 11:00 hours on the day in question and that an electrical cord was wrapped around her neck.The police also said that Persaud and another man were initially arrested for the murder.The second man detained was the woman’s employer who was implicated by Persaud.The employer was however released.Cuntie Padumdeo, the dead woman’s mother, had discovered her daughter’s body after receiving complaints that the young mother of one was late for work.Padumdeo worked as a cane juice vendor at the University of Guyana access road.Persaud’s PI will re-convene on March 21.
