The truth is not many nations produce world-class strikers and those who do aren’t guaranteed success.
Poland has had Robert Lewandowski, one of the world’s best strikers, leading the line for the past decade but have struggled to match the major championship performance of star-less teams like Iceland or Russia.

Scotland is improving, that is undoubted, could they have achieved more at its first major tournament since 1998? Perhaps.
But the underlying indicators are good, they were a creative positive team at Euro 2020 who had they had been more fortunate, may have gone further.
